Swimming

The Patterson Park Pool opens in June immediately after city schools close for the summer. It remains open until the last Sunday in August.
In season, the pool is open every day. Programs include group lessons, organized group swims, and early morning lap swimming for adults. Patterson Park also boasts a swim team, the Piranhas, that compete in various meets throughout the city. To schedule a group swim or for times and admission fees, contact Portia Harris, Aquatics Division, Baltimore City, at 410-396-3838.

The first pool in Patterson Park, built in 1906, actually had a sandy beach. The old red building to the left of the pool is the old bath house which was closed in 1990. Old timers remember being able to rent a towel and bathing suit for 3 cents. The new pool is divided into two parts: one 3 - 5 feet deep and the other 8 - 11 feet deep.
