The Latrobe Marble Fountain

Located next to the White House, this fountain was designed by George Frederick and built in 1865. One of the oldest features in the park, it is in the process of being restored.

A $100,000 grant was received from the TKF Foundation for restoration of this vintage fountain. The grant will assist the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks in conducting a full restoration of the fountain and its landscape. The TKF Foundation, based in Annapolis, Maryland, funds park and landscape projects that fulfill the goal of creating “open spaces, sacred places.” Belief that our fountain is such a site, the TKF Foundation has offered an additional $10,000 challenge grant to the Friends of Patterson Park for fountain amenities such as landscaping, outdoor furniture, and signage. It is expected that the restoration will be completed some time next year.

Join us in the Spring of 2004 when we rededicate the fountain.
