Kids & Family Events
There are lots of free events geared specifically for kids in Patterson Park.
Youth Volunteer Day
Each year the Friends of Patterson Park and the Patterson Park Audubon Center have a volunteer day for kids ages 5-10 years old. Children learn the importance of volunteering by helping to mulch and water trees or plant a garden in the park, then make a craft to take home.
Every June, Recreation and Parks hosts a fun, free fishing festival at the Boat Lake in Patterson Park. The event is geared for kids and pre-teens. The Friends of Patterson Park runs fishing-related games and gives prizes to all participants while Audubon sets up a station to make a craft that the kids can take home. There is also REAL fishing, and kids can either bring their own pole, or borrow one from Recreation and Parks.
For more family and kid-friendly events, check out the Public/Community Events page and the Audubon page. Check the calendar periodically for events that, even though they are not annual, are kid-friendly. Some events include: chalk drawing days, chess for kids, puppet shows, kids sports clinics and more.
