Patterson Park caught World Cup fever this June! Elementary and Middle School youth from across Baltimore met up for a World Cup-themed soccer tournament on Utz Field in Patterson Park on June 26, and Patterson Park neighbors met up for a World Cup game watch party on June 24th in the Cedar House. Both events were facilitated in partnership between Healthy Communities Inc., Soccer Without Borders, and Friends of Patterson Park.
Elementary and Middle School youth from across Southeast Baltimore kicked off the World Cup-themed soccer tournament meeting in a circle on Utz field in their new country-themed T-shirts

The tournament was organized in a Round-Robin format, with winning teams advancing and a final at the end.
92 elementary and middle school youth participated in the event
For most of the players in the tournament, this was an opportunity to meet youth from other schools and neighborhoods
The event was a smashing success with kids and families with many asking “when are we doing this again!?”
Over 70 neighbors stopped over at the Cedar House to watch simultaneous World Cup games
El Taquito Mexicano was on hand serving up Tepache and Nachos
