YOUTH SOCCER

Returning Spring 2026

FREE. The Friends of Patterson Park youth soccer program consists of free clinics that over youth an exposure to soccer through skills, drills, games and fun! This spring’s program has 4-6 week evening sessions.

YOUTH TENNIS

Winter Youth Tennis 101 - Virginia S. Baker Center

5:30pm - 6:30pm | Tuesdays, January 13th-February 17th | Youth ages 6-12yrs old | FREE | Sign up here!

FPP Tennis 101 is free and for kids ages 6 - 12yrs old who have never played tennis before, are just getting started, or are intermediate.

“Match Ready” Intermediate Youth Tennis

Returning Spring 2026

This program is free and for kids ages 6 - 12yrs old who have progressed beyond the beginner tennis level and are ready to develop rallying skills and play points. For this program, players should have solid groundstrokes (forehand and backhand), have developed footwork skills (allowing for recovery after hitting), have basic volley and serve skills, and be able to rally with another player for 5 - 8 consecutive shots.

Join Friends of Patterson Park and USTA Mid-Atlantic for the summer session of Girls Rule The Court! Girls Rule the Court™ (GRTC) is a free program for girls aged 7-13yrs to promote health, wellness and teamwork while building their self esteem through tennis. Lessons are focused on learning the basics of tennis and positive youth development principles such as building confidence, creating meaningful and beneficial connections and growing their technical, tactical and performance skills. 

Zumba Classes

Wednesdays | 6:00pm |Zumba w/ Malindi and Stephanie.A perfect workout for all ages and levels of fitness! FREE. Classes are either held at Pulaski Monument, or the Cedar House. To find the current Zumba schedule, visit our park calendar here!

Mindfulness Nature Walks

Join Phillip for a Mindfulness Nature Walk through Patterson Park. Walks begin at the Patterson Park Observatory and make our way through the park, focusing on nature sights and sounds with mindfulness techniques. FREE and all are welcome. Visit the Park Calendar for the next walk!

The Virginia S. Baker Rec Center has a wide variety of activities for youth and adults, including marching band, basketball, Zumba, soccer, and more!
