What is the Campaign for?
The campaign and project build is split into two Phases. Phase 1 - the renovation of the historic Patterson Park Superintendent’s House to support our offices and an accessible Visitors Center - is complete, with the ribbon-cutting taking place in spring of 2021. Visitors Center planning is underway. Phase 2 - construction of a community space, volunteer support center, and courtyard (along with other amenities including bike support stations, fencing, an electric vehicle garage for our park vehicle, etc) - is due to break ground in fall of 2022.
Why is it needed?
As our programs, events, and volunteer efforts have grown, we find ourselves in need of indoor, accessible space in which to hold events, classes or other gatherings. We anticipate this new space being an important resource to our non-profit and neighborhood partners, as well as to the community and our volunteers. The other indoor spaces in the park currently are not designated for our use.
What can we do with it?
· Use courtyard and new conditioned programming space to meet our current and future needs! Indoor yoga, Zumba, educational programs, donor events, classes, workshops, healthy cooking classes…we have many ideas on how to continue fulfilling our mission. · We can present a more welcoming face to the communities north/northwest of the park with our new side entrance and open fencing.
· We can open the new space to outside groups and private rentals.
When will construction begin?
We anticipate breaking ground in fall 2023, with an early spring 2024 finish.
How much will we need to raise, over how long? $800,000 over the next 9 months.
There are naming opportunities!
We have a Volunteer Support Center, Courtyard/Garden, Community Space, Bike Maintenance Station, and other opportunities, along with a donor wall where we’ll engrave donor names.
I have already given in Phase 1. Can I support Phase 2?
Yes! You can also participate by helping us identify corporate, foundation or neighborhood partners who would be interested in supporting Phase 2. ***If you donated in Phase 1 to dedicate a space either in the white house or in the areas to be constructed in Phase 2, note that we will be in touch this spring to solidify details for your dedication plaque.
How can you participate?
Make a gift or pledge to support the project!
Spread the word! Neighbors, friends, community members…this project will benefit all park users and visitors, and getting the word out about supporting the campaign to make this all happen will help us get there faster!
How will the matching program work?
The Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds have generously made a $100,000 challenge grant towards Phase 2 of our capital campaign. How does this help us reach our fundraising goals? All individual gifts of $1,000 or more and corporate/foundation gifts of $10,000 or more will be matched $1 for every $2 raised.
This matching program will help to ensure that we can continue to provide the volunteer support, free programs and park care that is our mission while building a new space that will allow us to expand our capacity…so that we can do more to continue to cultivate our park community.
