(Officially) Kicking off the $2M Campaign

(Officially) Kicking off the $2M Campaign

We recently kicked off the public phase of our $2M capital campaign to raise much-needed funds to restore the historic 1868 Park Superintendent’s house in the northwest corner of Patterson Park (our headquarters!) and to construct a brand-new community space and courtyard. On February 12, donors and friends gathered at the Ministry of Brewing to celebrate the halfway milestone in the campaign.

We had several speakers - long-time park friends and volunteers Kevin Peryea and Beth Braun (President of the Butchers Hill Association), and friend and program participant Joyce England, who talked about the dire need for this project and their reasons for supporting it. Two new videos were debuted at the event, including a virtual tour of the newly renovated white house and community space.

Check out photos in the gallery below, and the videos to the right. Lots more info on the campaign, Deepening Roots, Cultivating Community, is available here.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

The Friends of Patterson Park’s capital project to renovate the historic 1868 Park Superintendent’s House in Patterson Park was featured in an article by Jacques Kelly in the Baltimore Sun on 12/14/2020, “Patterson Park’s White House, after years of hard use, begins a renovation”.

“The sticky notes warn not to overload the electrical circuits. The back porch and tool storage area leak.

Patterson Park’s historic superintendent’s house needs renovation after about 45 years of hard use as a workhorse neighborhood center. It’s here at Patterson Park Avenue and East Lombard Street that summer concerts, health festivals and soccer programs get organized. It’s here that the volunteers assemble to open up and staff the nearby Patterson Park Pagoda.”

Unique ways to support the Friends!

Unique ways to support the Friends!

As a small non-profit with a big mission, we are so very grateful when our local business community steps in to support our work in Patterson Park! Our corporate friends include those who sponsor our events and athletic programming, those who commit their financial support, and those who might help our work through gifts of goods and services.

A great example of this is our neighbor Baltimore Home Cleaning, who has a non-profit arm providing free home cleaning to individuals - home-bound, injured, elderly, special situations - who are in need. They take care of the Friends’ Headquarters even with all its many challenges (working from a home built in 1868 and not maintained since the 1970’s is absolutely challenging!), and we are so grateful for the amazing cleaning they provide and for their work in the community!
